Fox13 on incentives
Fox13 in Memphis is the latest news organization to weigh in on the issue of incentives for filmmaking in Tennessee. The story that aired Monday interviews Memphis & Shelby County Film Commissioner Linn Sitler, who is quoted extensively. Among her observations:
"If a state has a cap on it's fund of 20 million dollars or 10 million dollars like we did, they (film studios) don't even consider the state. Because they feel by the time their movie does get there the money may be gone."
Also interviewed are Jan Austin of the Association for the Future of Film & Television, a Tennessee advocacy group; Mayor A C Wharton; and GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Haslam.
