Mar. 21 - 'Children of the Wall' Memphis premiere

Director Eric Swartz and producer Sarah Christine Bolton will have the Memphis premiere of their documentary film Children of the Wall at Studio on the Square on March 21, 2012 at 7 p.m. The screening is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5.

Artists, musicians, street performers, photographers, singers, painters, writers, a raw food artist, a film producer, dancers, actors, and arts administrators tell their personal stories about living and working in Berlin, a city struggling for an identity after 30 years of division.

Many of the artists profiled in the film were in Germany when the Berlin Wall came down on November 9, 1989, and they discuss how that historic event reshaped the city and their creative lives.

The film also explores how the threat of gentrification and development is pushing many artists – and their creativity – out of the main areas of the city, causing many to feel a blow has been struck to the heart of Berlin.
