'Grace Card' distribution deal

"The Grace Card," a locally made film that is a client of the Memphis & Shelby County Film and Television Commission, has announced a distribution deal that takes the movie nationwide next February.

It will be released in theaters nationwide on Feb. 25 via an arrangement with Sony companies Provident Films and Affirm Films, and distributor Samuel Goldwyn Films. DVD and Blu-ray releases are expected to follow later in 2011.

"The Grace Card" filmed in Memphis last year. There were 20 paid local crew members and one paid local cast member. Some $217,020.05 in production money was spent in the area.

The Commission was instrumental in assisting with location ideas and contacts, crew and services. There was additional coordination with the Memphis Police Department for permission to have the characters portray officers in the film.  The project was part of the Memphis & Shelby County Wage Refund Program.
