Carnival salutes Memphis film industry

The Carnival Memphis Business & Industry Salute Luncheon honors the Film Industry this year at an awards ceremony Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Hilton Memphis Hotel.

The event, from noon to 1:30 p.m., is presenting to the following honorees:

Cook Halle Award: Stephen Lightman, Jimmy Tashie and Bobby Levy of Malco Theatres

King's Award: Bill Courtney of the Academy Award-winning documentary Undefeated

President's Award: Linn Sitler, Commissioner of the Memphis & Shelby County Film and Television Commission

Chairman's Award: Writer/Director Craig Brewer

Additionally, company awards are being given to the William Bearden Company, John Beifuss of The Commercial Appeal, Dean Film & Video, Graceworks Pictures, Heritage Entertainment Group, Indie Memphis Film Festival, On Location: MEMPHIS Film and Music Fest, the Orpheum Theatre, and the Film & Video program in the Department of Communication at The University of Memphis

The event is presented by Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP benefitting the 2012 Carnival Children's Charities (Boy Scouts Scout Reach Program for Raleigh Frayser, Jubilee Schools and the School Advocates for Vision in Education).
