A casting call is being held Saturday Dec. 5 for girls 12-16 years old for the lead in the Coen Brothers feature film "True Grit."
The casting director provides this information:
"Fourteen-year-old Mattie is a simple, tough as nails young woman. Her steely nerves and straightforward manner are a shocking contrast to the way women behaved in the early century. She's possessed of true grit and plenty of determination — enough so that she insists on going with two marshals to hunt down the killer of her father."
This is a Paramount Pictures production to shoot in Spring of 2010.
The casting office says it is looking for "a Caucasian girl who’s tough, strong and tells it like it is. We are open to all looks!"
Girls ages 12-16 are invited. No experience is necessary. Bring a current photo that you will leave with the casting office. Please bring only one family member with you.
The casting call is Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Hilton Memphis, 939 Ridge Lake Blvd.
