Mid-South documentaries on Oscar short list

Of 124 documentary films that qualified for Oscar consideration, two with Mid-South connections have made the short list of 15 to be considered for an Academy Award. 

"Undefeated," which was made in Memphis with assistance of the Memphis & Shelby County Film and Television Commission, is on the list as well as "Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory," the final of three documentaries about the West Memphis Three.

Both films were screened recently to sold-out crowds at the Commission-supported Indie Memphis Film Festival.

Call for entries: 2012 Music Video Showcase

The 7th Annual Live From Memphis MUSIC VIDEO SHOWCASE, supported by the Memphis & Shelby County Film and Television Commission, has announced its Call For Entries.

The organizer, Live From Memphis™, is presenting its 2012 showcase at The Warehouse in downtown Memphis from March 1-4. The event will include music video showcases, panel discussions, parties, an award show and more.

Music videos not exceeding 5 minutes in length will be accepted through January 31, 2012. For details on submission, go here

Videos from all over the world may be submitted.  Awards include a jury award for “Best Music Video,” an “Audience Choice” award and a “Best Local” award.  Each award receives a trophy and prize package. If you are a filmmaker, musician, or band with a music video – submit it now.

Since 2005, the Music Video Showcase has rocked the theaters with the best in Memphis music videos. In 2011, The Music Video Showcase expanded to include videos outside of Memphis and to be a multi-day event.

26th Midsouth Regional Emmy© Award Nominations

Congratulations to all the Memphis and Shelby County individuals and organizations who received nominations for the 26th Midsouth Regional Emmy© Awards.

The Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced its Midsouth Regional Emmy© Award nominations on Friday, November 18

The gala awards ceremony will be Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.
